General Cleaning & Maintenance
- Frequency: We recommend cleaning frames, glass, and panels at least twice a year (more often in coastal or industrial areas).
- Cleaning Solution: Use warm water with a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive creams, scouring pads, or solvent-based cleaners, as they may damage the surface.
- Glass: Clean with a non-abrasive glass cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid razor blades or sharp tools to remove stubborn marks.
- Drainage Holes: Check that external drainage slots are clear of dirt and debris to allow water to drain away freely.
Hinges, Locks & Moving Parts
- Lubrication: Apply a light machine oil (such as 3-in-1) to hinges and moving parts every 6–12 months.
- Locks & Cylinders: Use a graphite powder or specialist lock lubricant — avoid WD-40 for locks as it can attract dirt.
- Adjustment: Over time, doors and windows may require slight hinge or handle adjustments for smooth operation. If in doubt, contact our service team.
UPVC Frames & Roofline Products (Fascias, Soffits, Guttering)
- Wipe down using a soft cloth with warm soapy water.
- Avoid climbing directly on roofline products — use suitable ladders and safety equipment.
- Inspect guttering for leaves and debris, especially in autumn, to prevent blockages.
Composite & UPVC Doors
- Surface Care: Wipe the door leaf and frame with warm soapy water; never use abrasive pads.
- Threshold: Keep the threshold free from stones and dirt to prevent wear on seals.
- Weather Seals: Check that rubber seals are clean and seated correctly — wipe them down with a damp cloth.
Conservatories & Roof Systems
- Roof Panels/Glass: Use a telescopic soft brush with warm soapy water.
- Avoid pressure washers as they may damage seals and gaskets.
- Check for moss or algae build-up in shaded areas — remove with a soft brush.
Sliding, Patio, French & Bi-Fold Doors
- Keep sliding tracks free from dirt, grit, and stones.
- Vacuum the track and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Lubricate sliding mechanisms as per manufacturer recommendations.
- Avoid forcing doors if they are difficult to open — this may indicate an adjustment is needed.
Seasonal Care Tips
- In colder months, check seals for draughts and wipe away condensation build-up to prevent mould.
- In hot weather, expansion of UPVC products is normal; avoid forcing windows/doors and allow them to cool before operating.
